ARC Giveaway: Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I have a super exciting giveaway for you all today; my first giveaway!

I was lucky enough to be granted the opportunity to receive an ARC copy of Lady Midnight, the latest book in The Shadowhunter Chronicles, thanks to the wonderful Georgia Lawe. Then, a week later, I received a second copy which I'm now offering to one lucky winner!

There are only two stipulations;

1) You have to be a resident of the UK.

2) You must be willing to sign an NDA for Georgia before I can post, and understand the book is under embargo until publication.

If those stipulations are agreeable, all I ask is that you post a comment below stating your favourite Shadowhunter book, character and moment, and your Twitter handle (for contact) by Wednesday 2nd March at 4pm GMT. A winner will then be chosen at random and contacted Wednesday evening.

Good luck!

  1. Hello, I'm Anna and I would love the chance to read Cassandra's latest book. My favourite Shadowhunter book is City of Bones. My favourite character is Alec because he always looks out for others and is not likely to put himself first. I can't possibly choose a favourite moment from the series, there's far too many! Magnus is always hilarious though with his witty comment and finger snaps. Especially in City of Ashes when Magnus says “That's your truck parked up by the factory isn't it?" "It's awfully butch for a bookseller.”

Fingers crossed! I can't wait to read this. :)

  2. My favourite book is City of Bones because I love world building!! My fav character is either Clary or Magnus. Even though book one is my fav book my fav moment is in City of Glass when Magnus says to Malachi that the wards are down and Malachi says:
    "Really I hadn't noticed"
And Magnus says that someone should have told him and turns to Luke and says "tell him the wards are down"

    Such sarcasm from Magnus Bane.

  6. Hello, I'm Sophie and I would be very excited to read Lady Midnight. My favourite Shadowhunter book is Clockwork Angel. My favourite character is Will Herondale because of his undeniable wit and charm, but also because of his fierce protectiveness of Jem. My favourite moment, albeit utterly heartbreaking, is the epilogue in Clockwork Princess as it shows that true friendship never dies.
    Fingers crossed and thank you!

This is an awesome giveaway so I'm totally here for this.

My favourite Shadowhunters book is, undoubtedly, City of Bones just because it was what kickstarted my love for the series (although I do have a soft spot for City of Heavenly Fire; what an ending...) and I just fell in love from page one. I enjoy re-reading it because it's so much fun to go back and visit that initial time when Clary was unaware of *everything* - I also really love the ending!

My favourite character is Alec Lightwood just because I related to him most out of all the Shadowhunter characters. I liked that he was quiet and quite introspective, and I liked his development across the books (especially in City of Glass). He's also been really accurately portrayed in the TV series and that's only enhanced my love for him!

As for my favourite moment, this is really hard to choose but, and this is a weird choice, I loved when Clary's mum woke up just because I sympathised with Clary for having temporarily lost her mum and I really liked Jocelyn as a character so it was nice to have her back. It's a bit of an odd decision but it really stuck with me when I first read the books!

(Also my Twitter name is @Grumblenook! Thank you!)

  10. Hi I'm Sophie, my favourite book has to be City of Heavenly Fire, I loved all the sass and the humour, also the fight scenes were pretty incredible. My favourite character is Magnus Bane because he is so cool and amazing and he doesn't care what people think of him, yet he is so kind to everyone and welcoming (especially at his parties haha). My favourite moment is when Clary Jace and Sebastian are in Paris, mainly because I love Paris so much but also because it was so interesting to see their dynamic and how Clary interacted with them. Thanks so much for this opportunity and I wish the best of luck to everyone else entering this giveaway :)

  13. Hi I'm Jessica. I have two favourite books (I would pick if I could but I can't I mean who could) they are "City of Glass" and "Clockwork Angel" both are just too good to choose from. My favourite character has to be Simon because he always chooses his moments, and he is always funny and adorable but most of all a hero. My favourite moment has to be when Isabelle finally calls herself Simons girlfriend but I have another moment that I love plus I cry at all at the same time and that's in City of Heavenly Fire when Simon and Isabelle are talking at the Wedding in the end and Simon says to Isabelle, "The guy you knew who was a hero, who did great things. I don't remember doing those things. I don't know if that makes me not a hero anymore. But I'd like to try to be that guy again".
    Thank You for this opportunity.

  14. My favourite character is Jace. Although I feel like all the characters have their own story throughout the series, havig just re-read them its always the Jace moments that stand out for me. There isnt one singular scene, but the one that breaks my heart the most is the end of city of fallen angels, when he is punishing himself for what he did whilst he was possessed, and i feel like i can identify with that a little myself. City of heavenly fire i love the scene with Jem and their talk of the nature of Herondales, ultimately leading to the end of the book when Jace says he will continue the Herondale name, and in that final quote of 'Freely we serve because we freely love, as in our will to love or not; in this we stand or fall' i breathe a sigh of relief and hope that at last he can be happy, or at least have a few months with no wars to deal with!
My favourite book is city of lost souls because to me this is about jace and clary and the strength that clary has for both of them to stay with him in that house, and the strength of her belief that he is ultimately good and worth saving.

  15. My favourite book is City of Glass there is just so so much action and lots of things comes together for it all to go crazy in book four. My favourite character is a toss between Magnus and Simon. I love Magnus flair and humour and I just always rooted for Simon. My favourite moment is any Alec and Magnus moment they are my favourite pairing. Thanks for the chance. @teamwolf1988

  16. It's so difficult to pick a favourite book because I'm in love with them all! If I had to pick, my favourite would be City of Ashes. I was going to say City of Heavenly Fire because my absolute favourite moment is when they're all talking to Asmodeus and Alec was pleading with Magnus to not let his father take his immortality. Even though the book was some what heartbreaking because my favourite character, Alec, was so unhappy, this scene warmed my heart. I also adore The Infernal Devices - Clockwork Angel is my absolute favourite because the love story between Will, Jem and Tessa begins and I came to love Will instantly!

  17. Hi, I'm Megan, a Scottish book blogger and I would absolutlely love love to win this ARC!
My favourite book has got to be City of Fallen Angels - that's when things get super super exciting and you can't stop reading!
My favourite character has got be Clary - and her character development is so great throughout the series.
As for my favourite moment, I'll quote it right now because *swoon* -
“There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.”

My favourite book is the City of Heavenly Fire because although it is the end, as readers we get to see what the characters worked so hard for come to life and see them achieve their goals as well as being free to be happy without having to worry.

My favourite character would have to be Alec because as the books progress, we get to see him open up to more people and see his character evolving to become happier and free to be who he is without fear.

My favourite moment is the "I did not make a pie" scene because although the characters are in a dire situation, the fact that Alec was still sassy always makes me laugh.

  19. My favourite character...hmmm...i'd have to choose between either Simon or Jace, I love their humour. I like Simon's nerdy jokes and Jace's sarcasm and witty charm.
My favourite book would have to be City of Glass. When I started reading this book I couldn't put it down, it had everything: action, romance, drama, suspense.
My favourite moment was the battle with Valentine at the end of City of Glass
(I have to add my favorite quote from the series and it's from City of Bones. I literally laughed out loud for 5 minutes after first reading it)
"...you freed a possible criminal by trading away your brother to a warlock who looks like a gay Sonic the Hedgehog and dresses like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?"
